The Goal: Find the Portal Administration page and know what each of its six areas is for.
Before You Begin:
- You need portal administrator privileges. If you do not see the Portal Administration link, ask an existing admin to add you to an administrator group.
- Several of these pages are available with the LMS. If a card is missing, it may not be included in your plan.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Click the drop-down menu in the top-left corner of your portal homepage.
- Select the Portal Administration link.
From the Portal Administration page, you can access the:
- Learning Management System Module Administration page, where you can create and manage learning modules (Available with the LMS). To learn more, visit the Adding and Managing Modules article.
- Progress Reports page, where you can view progress and proficiency by user and account (Available with the LMS).
- Certificate Administration page, where you can create and manage LMS certificates (Available with the LMS). To learn more, visit the Creating and Managing LMS Certificates article.
- Metric Reports page, where you can view Portal and LMS metrics. To learn more, visit the Metric Reports article.
- Audit Log page, where you can view a register of every action or event that has taken place in your portal. To learn more, visit the Access the Audit Log article.
-
Portal Settings page, where you can manage:
- General settings — your portal name, display name, and subdomain.
- User Security settings — logout of inactive users and forced password changes.
- Support Settings — the support page your users reach from the "Need Support?" link.
- Credits — the term your portal uses for the credits you award. The default is CEU, and you can change it to PDUs, Clock Hours, Contact Hours, or anything else that fits your organization.
- Advanced settings.
We recommend that you navigate to each page to get familiar with portal administration features and functions.
Common Pitfalls
- Not visiting Credits before launching: If your organization awards something other than CEUs, change the term before learners start completing modules. Certificates keep the wording that was in place when they were generated, and there is no way to reissue them.
- Looking for the Portal Administration link in the wrong corner: It is in the drop-down menu at the top left of the homepage. The Groups link is in the top right.
- Expecting every card to appear: Several pages are available with the LMS. A missing card usually reflects your plan rather than a permissions problem.
